Issuance of foreign travel passports may be delayed in Ukraine due to russian attacks on Kyiv
Temporary delays are expected in Ukraine regarding the production and issuance of foreign travel passports and other biometric documents. The main reason for the delays is russia’s regular combined attacks on Kyiv using ballistic missiles and drones. It was reported by the press service of the “Ukraine” Printing Plant.
Due to security threats, the facility halts production during air raid alerts so that staff can take shelter. Stopping and restarting industrial equipment is a complex technological process: putting the machinery into safe mode and subsequently reconfiguring it after the all-clear takes a significant amount of time, which slows down document printing.
"Despite the shelling and difficult conditions, the plant’s workforce is operating at full capacity to ensure uninterrupted production and issue completed passports as quickly as possible," the company stated, urging citizens to be understanding of the situation.
The printing plant added that the warning about possible delays in passport processing during martial law is official. Citizens are advised to check the status of their documents themselves via the "Document Processing Status Check" online service on the official website of the State Migration Service.
