Defense Ministry to fill up to 50% of positions of stormtroopers and infantrymen with foreigners - Fedorov
The Ministry of Defense intends to fill up to 50% of positions of stormtroopers and infantrymen with foreigners. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"We are opening the market for recruiting foreigners to strengthen combat units and save the lives of Ukrainian military personnel. Our goal is to fill up to 30-50% of positions of stormtroopers and infantrymen with foreigners," he said.
It is assumed that private recruiting companies will recruit, screen, select and deliver future servicemen to Ukraine, receiving payments for each newcomer who joins the army.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to recruit more foreigners to the Ukrainian army.
Fedorov reported that the Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a package of resolutions that launches the first stage of a comprehensive transformation of the military service system.
