Zelenskyy instructs to recruit more foreigners to army
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to recruit more foreigners to the Ukrainian army.
Zelenskyy announced this in a video address, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I instructed to open significantly more opportunities to recruit foreign volunteers to the Ukrainian army, and there will be more recruitment mechanisms for this," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that he was grateful to all volunteers from other countries who are fighting for freedom in Ukraine, understanding that this concerns the freedom of many other peoples.
He also spoke in favor of further simplifying transfers for soldiers, increasing opportunities for growth in the army, and increasing positive incentives to join the defense.
Zelenskyy noted that direct funding for combat brigades has proven itself well, a more equitable distribution of personnel for brigades is already working every month, and the brigades' ability to independently conduct basic combined arms training is increasing.
"These are good foundations for implementing terms, specific terms of service, thanks to increased payments and new contracts. I expect that each element of the changes that are currently being implemented will show their effectiveness this summer," he said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy said that the Cabinet of Ministers should start paying the first new bonuses to the military in June.
