The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting at the request of Ukraine after another wave of russian attacks on Ukrainian cities.

This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the X network, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to him, the meeting will be held on June 8 and will be dedicated to the consequences of the latest massive russian strike.

Sybiha stressed that the latest wave of attacks once again demonstrates the Kremlin's unwillingness to move towards a peaceful settlement.

"Russia continues to choose escalation over peace and terror over diplomacy," Sybiha said.

He stressed that international pressure on Moscow remains necessary to restore respect for international law and the principles of the UN Charter.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian side plans to draw attention to the consequences of the russian shelling and the need to strengthen the international response to russia's actions.

Sybiha also noted that Ukraine continues to promote peace proposals to end the war and counts on the support of partners.

"We are grateful to our allies for their constant support and contribution to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace," the Foreign Minister emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, apologized to Greece for the incident with a naval drone, which was discovered in Greek territorial waters near the island of Lefkada in the Ionian Sea in May.
