We have always defended direct talks between Ukraine and kremlin. Time has come - Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that today Ukraine and the aggressor country, russia, can achieve a ceasefire and peace, so it is time to resume direct negotiations between the two countries. His remarks were reported by Le Monde on Friday, June 5.
Macron called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s open letter to vladimir putin proposing a meeting a “good initiative.”
"We have always advocated for direct negotiations between Ukraine and the Kremlin. I believe that today, it is Ukraine and Russia that can establish both a ceasefire and a peace plan. It is the Europeans who can help with this. Given the current situation, the time has come to resume negotiations with Russia," the French President emphasized.
According to him, the EU has always supported direct negotiations between Ukraine and the kremlin.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published the full text of an open letter to russian dictator vladimir putin proposing to meet on neutral territory and bring the war to a dignified conclusion.
