Published satellite and geolocation images recorded the consequences of Ukrainian strikes on military and oil facilities in St. Petersburg. The corvette Boykiy of the russian Baltic Fleet in Kronstadt and the St. Petersburg oil terminal were attacked.

This is stated in a report by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Analysts note that the geolocation footage dated June 3 shows a column of smoke above the Kronstadt naval base after the strike. Other footage released shows a fire at the St. Petersburg oil terminal.

According to ISW, since March 2026, Ukrainian forces have increased the frequency, range and intensity of strikes on oil infrastructure facilities in russia's rear. The institute believes that such attacks are affecting russia's oil exports and oil refining capacity.

The report also notes that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum has traditionally been used by the Kremlin to demonstrate russia's economic capabilities to an international audience. According to analysts, the strikes on St. Petersburg on the opening day of the forum undermined this narrative.

ISW emphasized that Ukraine's long-range strikes at a distance of more than 1,000 kilometers from the international border demonstrate Kyiv's ability to strike facilities deep in the russian rear.

Later, it turned out that, fulfilling the tasks set by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the SSU, together with representatives of the Defense Forces of Ukraine - the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the State Border Guard Service and the Defense Intelligence - struck the infrastructure of the "Petersburg Oil Terminal" in St. Petersburg. Ukrainian drones also worked on warships based at the Kronstadt Naval Base in the Leningrad Oblast of the russian federation.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the successful attack of Ukrainian forces on a number of strategically important objects on the territory of the russian federation. In particular, the St. Petersburg oil terminal, which is an important part of russia's fuel infrastructure, was hit.

In addition, the first day of the international economic forum in St. Petersburg, russia, began with a large-scale mobile internet outage that could last three days.
