Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed two decrees enacting the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council to align Ukrainian sanctions with the European Union’s sanctions policy.

It was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The new restrictions align with the EU’s 20th sanctions package and cover 120 individuals and entities. The sanctions are aimed at increasing pressure on key sectors of the russian economy and individuals involved in supporting the aggression against Ukraine.

Some of those targeted were already subject to Ukrainian sanctions. At the same time, the new decisions apply to an additional 16 russian citizens and 31 companies from russia, Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

The sanctions lists include heads of russian strategic enterprises, state-funded institutions, and units of the russian Armed Forces, as well as individuals collaborating with the occupying authorities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Restrictions have also been imposed on enterprises within the russian military-industrial complex, manufacturers of electronic warfare systems, software, and components for drones. In particular, sanctions have been imposed on the russian company Atlant Aero, which manufactures aerospace products and components for drones, as well as the company Irz-Svyaz, which specializes in the production of communication systems and components for UAVs and missiles.

Separately, sanctions were imposed on companies from the UAE that supplied equipment, laboratory equipment, chemical products, and spare parts for aviation, as well as on one of the Belarusian oil exporters.

The sanctions list also includes individual representatives of the russian government and the propaganda machine. Among them are prosecutor Lyudmila Balandina, judge Dmitry Gordeev, and TV presenter and propagandist Maria Sittel, who are believed to be involved in repression, politically motivated persecution, and the dissemination of disinformation.

In addition, Ukraine imposed sanctions on 19 Iranian citizens, seven Sudanese citizens, and 11 Iranian companies linked to ballistic missile and unmanned aerial vehicle programs.

Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Advisor and Presidential Envoy on Sanctions Policy, noted that Ukraine continues to coordinate sanctions regimes with the European Union and international partners.

"We continue to synchronize sanctions regimes with the EU and our partners. We expect further pressure to be exerted on Russia and all those who help it sustain its aggression. We are already finalizing joint work on draft decisions for the next round of sanctions by the EU and partner states, specifically the 21st sanctions package," Vlasiuk emphasized.
