What long-suffering Lukianivka in Kyiv looks like now

Four days after the heaviest shelling of Kyiv, cleanup efforts continue in Lukianivka to address the extensive damage. A correspondent for the Ukrainian News agency visited the site of the shelling and filmed what this area of the capital looks like now.

The market and the Kvadrat shopping center exist only as charred remains of their structures. Also gone are the pharmacy, now marked only by a damaged sign, as well as the Roshen store and the Eva cosmetics store.

A few merchants are returning to work, but now they are displaying their goods in front of the ruins.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of May 24, russian troops launched a massive ballistic missile attack on the Ukrainian capital.

The National Police released footage of the first minutes following russia’s attack on Kyiv, captured by law enforcement officers’ body cameras. 

On May 24, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs building was damaged by combat for the first time since World War II.

Due to the russian strike on Podil, the Chornobyl Museum was nearly destroyed and historical landmarks were damaged.

Also, during the nighttime attack on Kyiv, the main office of Ukrposhta on Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square was damaged.

The Air Forces shot down 55 enemy missiles and 549 drones during a large-scale nighttime bombardment.
