Belarus has prepared bases for emergency deployment of russian troops, Ukraine strengthens border - SBGS

At present, Ukrainian border guards have not observed any buildup of russian troops directly along the border with Belarus. However, the threat remains, as self-proclaimed President Aleksandr Lukashenko could at any moment provide infrastructure and pre-prepared bases for the deployment of russian forces. Andrii Demchenko, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, made this statement during a televised marathon.

According to him, the State Border Guard Service is monitoring the situation using technical surveillance equipment and currently sees no formation of strike groups directly along the border.

At the same time, the spokesperson urged not to ignore accusations from Minsk, particularly recent statements by the Belarusian Security Council regarding allegedly over a hundred incursions by Ukrainian drones in a week. “We shouldn’t react to such statements from Belarus when they accuse Ukraine of something, but we must be prepared for any developments, because they may use all of this in the future precisely to justify further aggression,” Andrii Demchenko emphasized. He added that accusations of attempts to strike border infrastructure are a classic tool of pressure.

Given the constant risks, the Defense Forces continue to fortify their positions along the entire line of demarcation. The State Border Guard Service spokesperson stressed that Ukraine must maintain a strong defense along the entire length of the border with Belarus. This applies to Volyn, Chernihiv, and all other border regions, in order to respond promptly to any changes in enemy tactics in the event of an emergency redeployment of russian forces.
