Zelenskyy confirms that he sent special letter to Trump and US Congress
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had sent a special letter simultaneously to US President Donald Trump and Congress in order to achieve results more quickly. The head of state made this statement in an evening video address on Wednesday, May 27.
Zelenskyy noted that the war being waged by the aggressor country, russia, against Ukraine must be ended. According to him, the US must listen to Ukraine despite its focus on the war in Iran.
"This week, I prepared a special letter to the President of the United States and Congress. The letter was sent to institutions in Washington yesterday. It is rare for the leaders of another country to address both the President and Congress of the United States of America in a single letter, but the situation now is such that we must act swiftly and effectively," the head of state emphasized.
Currently, russia shows no interest in diplomacy and relies on missile strikes, so Ukraine needs protection against ballistic missiles, Zelenskyy stressed. In his view, this can only be resolved with America.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 27, The Kyiv Independent and journalist Barak Ravid stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had sent a letter to US President Donald Trump, warning that Ukraine was running out of air defense capabilities.
As a reminder, on April 26, Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Directorate of the Ukrainian Air Forces, stated that Ukrainian air defense forces were facing a shortage of missiles for the Patriot system.
