Russian attack once again damages Odesa's oldest Jewish cemetery

The Third Jewish Cemetery—the city’s oldest cemetery—was damaged during the latest russian attack on Odesa. Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Reuven Asman, has reported this and posted photos from the scene.

As a result of the attack, numerous gravestones and monuments were damaged and destroyed. The photos show the extent of the destruction: bent and toppled metal fences around the graves, scattered fragments of stone and concrete, and broken trees. According to Azman, this is already the third strike on this site. 

"It is very painful to see how war comes even to places where people are supposed to rest in eternal peace," he wrote.

The rabbi called for prayers for Odesa and Ukraine.

"Let us pray for Odesa, for Ukraine, and that no more missiles or drones will destroy either the lives of the living or the memory of those who are no longer with us," Azman emphasized.

As previously reported, in December 2025, a russian missile struck a Jewish cemetery in Kharkiv.
