Odesa being prepared for circular defense - South Territorial Defense
Large-scale construction of defensive structures has begun around Odesa, including anti-tank trenches, dugouts, barbed wire, and "dragon's teeth." The South Territorial Defense Forces reported this on Facebook.
Military officials emphasize that the construction and installation of engineering barriers are preventive measures. The main goal of these efforts is to significantly strengthen the region’s defense capabilities and minimize any risks in the event of a potential threat from the sea or land.
The South Territorial Defense Forces emphasized that preparing the city for a circular defense is a proactive, preemptive effort intended to demonstrate to the enemy the defenders’ full readiness for any possible scenario.
"Such measures are not bravado, but proactive work to ensure the enemy has no illusions: any attempt at an amphibious landing is doomed to failure," the unit noted.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced preparatory measures to organize a circular defense of settlements in the Kyiv Region.
The West of Ukraine is also being prepared for a circular defense.
