For the first time in history, Ukrainian national team headed by foreign coach - Ukrainian Association of Football appoints Andrea Maldera

The Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) officially announced the appointment of Andrea Maldera as the head coach of the national team. The candidacy of the Italian specialist was approved by the UAF Executive Committee upon submission to the National Teams Committee.

The agreement with Maldera is designed for two years with an option to extend. Thus, for the first time in history, the Ukrainian national team was headed by a foreign coach.

Who is Andrea Maldera?

Maldera was born on May 18, 1971. During his career, he worked as an assistant head coach at Milan, Brighton and Marseille. In 2016-2021, he was part of the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team under Andrii Shevchenko, who is currently the president of the UAF. Maldera's last place of work was the French Marseille, where he served as an assistant.

Earlier, journalist Ihor Burbas reported that, according to his information, Maldera receives five times less as a coach than Rebrov.
