Over 40 people injured in massive attack, 18 apartments destroyed in Darnytskyi district - Klitschko
As a result of the massive shelling of the capital, residential buildings and critical infrastructure were hit. The greatest destruction was suffered by thr Darnytskyi district, where a russian missile hit a high-rise building. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
"A 9-story panel residential building in the Darnytskyi district. 18 apartments were destroyed as a result of the russian attack. A rescue and search operation is underway. According to preliminary information, 11 people were rescued from the building," the mayor noted.
According to the mayor, rescuers continue to clear the rubble, as people may still be under the concrete structures. The number of victims throughout the city grew rapidly throughout the morning: from the first reports of 19 wounded to the final figure of four dozen people.
"40 injured in the capital as a result of a massive enemy attack. Among them are two children. 31 injured were hospitalized. Including one child," Klitschko said, specifying earlier that a one-month-old baby was among the wounded.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of May 14, russian troops carried out a combined attack on Kyiv using drones and ballistic missiles. As a result of shelling in the Darnytskyi district of the capital, a residential building was destroyed, with residents trapped under the rubble.
Due to the night attack by the russian federation on the left bank of Kyiv, water supply disruptions occurred, and traffic in the Darnytskyi district was changed.
