Ukraine submits lists for "1000 for 1000" exchange, delay arose due to russia - Lubinets
The Ukrainian side has completed preparations for the "1,000 for 1,000" prisoner exchange and submitted the necessary lists to the russian side.
Dmytro Lubinets stated on the telethon that the process was delayed due to the russian federation's position.
According to the ombudsman, the Ukrainian negotiating team has completed its part of the work, but the final implementation of the agreements is being delayed. Lubinets noted that Ukraine cannot be completely confident in the implementation of the agreements with the russian side even after reaching an agreement.
He reported that negotiations on the exchange are ongoing every day. According to the ombudsman, he is personally involved in this process, in particular through contacts with the russian ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova.
Lubinets also stated that Ukraine insists on the priority return of seriously wounded, seriously ill prisoners and military personnel who have been in captivity since 2022.
The ombudsman added that the Ukrainian side began to publicly comment on the preparation of the exchange after accusations from russia of allegedly disrupting the process. According to him, information about the preparation of this exchange became known even before it was held also due to the position of the United States as a mediator country.
Recall, on May 9, US President Donald Trump said that he had agreed with Kremlin leader vladimir putin on an exchange of prisoners between russia and Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed this.
