Defense forces destroy 92 enemy drones during massive night attack by RF
Ukrainian defenders neutralized 92 out of 102 drones with which the russian troops attacked the country since the evening of May 6. This is reported in the summary of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The enemy used a combined set of means, including attack drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas type, as well as simulator drones Parody. Launches were carried out from the territory of the Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov Oblasts, Krasnodar Krai of the russian federation, as well as from the occupied Crimea and Donetsk. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the air attack.
"As of 8:00 am on May 7, air defense shot down/suppressed 92 drones in the north and east of Ukraine," the Air Force reported.
Despite the high efficiency of the defenders, eight strike drones were hit in six locations. In addition, debris from the downed aircraft was recorded falling in four places. According to the military, as of this morning, the attack was still ongoing, as several enemy targets remained in the airspace.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy expects a russian offensive in the summer and calls on the West to urgently provide air defense systems.
Recall, on May 4, the russian Ministry of Defense announced the introduction of a ceasefire on May 8 and 9, which is necessary for the russians to hold propaganda events dedicated to Victory Day. Ukraine noted that no one had approached Kyiv with any official proposals for a ceasefire. Later, President Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine would initiate a ceasefire on the night of May 5-6. And yesterday, May 6, he reported that russia had disrupted the ceasefire declared by Ukraine.
