Epiphany: Fico after conversation with Zelenskyy says peace deal with russia impossible without Ukraine's consent
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that despite differences on certain issues, he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are committed to friendly relations between their countries, and that a peace agreement in the war with Russia is impossible without Ukraine’s consent.
Fico made these remarks in a post on his Facebook page following a phone call with Zelenskyy.
"Although our views differ on some issues, we have a shared interest in establishing good and friendly relations between Slovakia and Ukraine... I confirmed that Slovakia supports Ukraine’s aspirations to join the EU, as Slovakia wants Ukraine, as our neighbor, to be a stable and democratic country,” the Slovak prime minister stated.
According to Fico, during the conversation they agreed to meet briefly on Monday in Yerevan at the European Political Community summit and to continue their work through joint government meetings, as well as to exchange visits to the capitals of both countries.
"I also emphasized that no peace agreement in the military conflict with the Russian Federation is possible without the consent of the Ukrainian side," Fico said.
Earlier, as the Ukrainian News agency reported, the President of Ukraine spoke about his conversation with Fico.
