Iranian Islamists say they will set new rules for shipping in Strait of Hormuz - media
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced that it will enforce "new rules" designed for the waters off Iran's coast in the Arabian Sea and the Strait of Hormuz.
It was reported by the Tasnim news agency.
The IRGC command emphasized that it intends to make the waters of the Strait of Hormuz safe for navigation.
The statement notes that the IRGC Navy will exercise control over nearly 2,000 km of Iran’s coastline in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, transforming these waters into “a source of pride and power for the dear people of Iran, as well as a source of security and prosperity for the region.”
