In the Khmelnytskyi Region, utility workers turned off the electricity for two days to save a stork's nest with eggs, which the wind blew off a pole. This was reported by a local utility worker on his page in Threads.

According to him, the wind blew away the stork's nest along with the eggs. In order to return it to its place, two towers had to be brought in. All this time, the villagers remained without electricity.

"People have been without electricity for two days to save the nest," the author of the video noted.

Users reaction

Users criticized the approach of the utility company, noting that to avoid a repeat of the situation, energy companies usually install a special metal frame on the poles. In response, the author of the post explained that their organization is not an energy service, and installing the frame could be dangerous for the eggs that were already in the nest.

"There were already eggs there - it could be dangerous to postpone the move. I think the storks will strengthen their nest on their own, and we fixed it a little for them," he noted.

Users also joked that "a couple of storks divorced and divided the property - the village was without electricity for two days," and shared their own experience of life due to a stork blackout.

"How great you are! Last summer, my parents had problems with a nest on a pole. They were without electricity for a day. Only our house. The electricians said that the nest needed to be removed for repairs, but the storks in it were small, they could barely fly. We decided to run the wire to the street lighting line. Thus, the house had light, but the end of the street had no light," said ok_mslmt.

As previously reported, in the Pyryatynsky National Nature Park on the evening of March 22, 2026, the first bird of the season appeared in the nest of the storks Hrytsyk and Odarka.
