Trump lashes out at ABC host Jimmy Kimmel for joking about Melania Trump as "future widow" days before shooting
On April 27, US President Donald Trump stated that ABC should fire Jimmy Kimmel, host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, over a joke he made about First Lady Melania Trump, which he called a “disgusting incitement to violence.” In the joke, Kimmel referred to Melania as a “future widow.”
CNN reports on this.
This refers to Kimmel’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on April 23, where he presented a sketch in the form of a fictional invitation to an official event at the Washington Hilton. During his monologue, the host addressed the First Lady, saying: “Our First Lady, Melania is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”
This performance took place a few days before the shooting at an official event, which occurred on the evening of April 25.
Melania Trump also commented on the situation, stating that Kimmel’s monologue about her family “is not comedy,” and she called his words “corrosive” and ones that “deepen the political sickness within America.” This is her first public comment regarding the shooting.
According to CNN, this is not the first conflict between Kimmel and Trump. Last year, the host’s late-night show was temporarily taken off the air by ABC after he accused Republicans of exploiting the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk for political gain.
What is known about the third assassination attempt on Trump?
As a reminder, on April 26, a man armed with a shotgun and several other types of weapons attempted to break through a security checkpoint into the room where US President Donald Trump was located and opened fire on security personnel.
Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, was in the hall during the attempted assassination of US President Donald Trump. She posted photos of the incident.
Cole Tomas Allen, who is suspected of opening fire during an event attended by Donald Trump, stated that his targets were White House officials.
Ten minutes before the shooting during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, Cole Tomas Allen sent a manifesto to his family members in which he called himself a “friendly federal assassin.”
Donald Trump stated that he has no connection to the allegations outlined in the manifesto of the man who attempted to assassinate him and members of his administration.
