Zaluzhnyi urges not to believe predictions about end of war
Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that it is impossible to predict the exact date when the war will end. He made this remark during a conversation with students.
Why shouldn’t we trust these predictions?
Zaluzhnyi emphasized that he does not intend to name specific dates just to attract media attention.
“I am a complete realist and know a little bit about war. It is impossible to predict the end of a war, especially one like the one in Ukraine. We can only see the factors that influence it,” he emphasized.
According to Zaluzhnyi, instead of waiting for predictions, Ukraine must address critical internal issues: clearly define the limits of its own resources and formulate a strategy that will allow the war to end with a realistic, rather than an artificially presented, outcome. In his words, any actions without a specific goal lead only to the depletion of the economy and the loss of lives without a real result.
Zaluzhnyi and the "black swan"
The Ambassador also noted that while an unpredictable event that could change the course of the war might theoretically occur, the country must be prepared for any turn of events and plan its future independently.
"Don’t trust anyone. Because this war depends on a multitude of factors. Everything will depend on how much we ourselves want to wage war and how we carry out that desire," Zaluzhnyi concluded.
As previously reported, Zaluzhnyi’s brother rents an apartment in Belgium and received UAH 4 million in compensation from the Ministry of Defense for a business trip.
