Washington will not continue to make exceptions to sanctions for russian and Iranian oil - Bessent

US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said that the administration does not plan to renew the permits that allowed the purchase of russian and Iranian oil and petroleum products currently at sea.

This was stated in an interview with Bessent to the Associated Press.

According to the minister, the issue of extending the one-time exception for Iranian oil is not on the agenda at all.

"As for the Iranians, there are no exceptions. We have a blockade in place, and the oil is not coming out. We believe that in the next two to three days they will have to start stopping production, which will be very bad for their wells," the American official said.

Bessent emphasized that Iranian oil is under a blockade and is actually not entering the market.
