Two tanks catch fire at Gorky oil pumping station after drone strike - media
A fire broke out at the Gorky oil pumping station in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast of the aggressor state, the russian federation, following an attack by Ukrainian drones. The fire engulfed at least two oil tanks.
Reuters reported this on Thursday, April 23, citing its own sources.
Unnamed sources told Reuters that at least two tanks, each with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters, caught fire following the UAV attack.
Gleb Nikitin, governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, confirmed the attack by Ukrainian UAVs. According to him, the attack damaged and set fire to an industrial facility near the town of Kstovo. He did not specify that it was an oil pumping station.
One source added that the Gorky station pumps oil to the largest export terminal at the port of Primorsk in the Leningrad Oblast of the russian federation. It also pumps raw materials to oil refineries in Moscow, Yaroslavl, and Kirishi in the Leningrad Oblast.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, citing sources in the Security Service of Ukraine, on the night of April 23, servicemen from the SSU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center attacked the “Gorky” oil pumping station using drones.
It was also reported today that since early April, four russian oil refineries have suspended operations due to Ukrainian attacks.
