Banks predict further growth in business and household loans.

This was outlined by the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine on the results of the Survey on Bank Lending Conditions for the first quarter of 2026, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The balance of responses regarding changes in business lending volumes over the next 12 months has reached its highest level since the beginning of 2015, and almost two-thirds of financial institutions plan to increase loans to the public.

According to the survey, business demand for loans increased during the first quarter.

In particular, demand from large enterprises for hryvnia and long-term loans increased primarily due to the need for capital investments and working capital.

In the second quarter, banks expect a further increase in business demand.

The demand from the public for loans also increased.

For consumer loans, this trend has been going on since the second quarter of 2023, for mortgage loans since the beginning of 2025.

Banks expect it to continue.

The debt burden of enterprises remained average, and for households - low.

In the first quarter, credit standards for enterprises in general almost did not change, and banks do not plan to change them in the future.

The level of approval of applications for all types of business loans, except for foreign currency loans, increased for the fourth quarter in a row.

Credit standards for consumer loans have eased somewhat (this trend has been going on since the beginning of 2023), but have not changed for mortgages.

In the future, banks expect standards to ease for both mortgages and consumer loans.

The level of approval of applications for loans to households has increased, in particular, the approved amounts and terms of consumer loans have increased.

Banks noted a significant increase in all types of risks, except interest rate, and announced expectations of increased currency, credit and operational risks.

The survey on bank lending conditions was conducted from March 17 to April 7, 2026 among bank credit managers.

The responses were provided by 25 financial institutions with a share of 96% of the banking system's assets.

The survey results reflect the opinions of the respondents and are not estimates or forecasts of the National Bank.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January, Ukrainian banks issued 718 mortgage loans for a total amount of UAH 1.5 billion, which is 25% less than in December 2025 (UAH 2 billion).
