Magyar accuses Szijjártó of destroying secret documents of Hungarian Foreign Ministry

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who mysteriously disappeared from the public eye when Viktor Orbán announced his election defeat, suddenly reappeared at his workplace. While journalists were recording his return to the ministry building, the winner of the election, Péter Magyar, announced an urgent "purge" of the archives related to sanctions and secret agreements with the kremlin. It was reported by 24.hu.

The leader of the Tisza party noted that Szijjártó's return to office is not related to the transfer of cases, but to an attempt to hide toxic evidence of the previous government's activities.

"Péter Szijjártó came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and they started destroying sanctions documents. I can tell them that this will not be enough," Magyar emphasized during his first press conference.

The politician emphasized that the current government ignores the principles of national security, which usually provide for full information of successors about the state of affairs in the country. Instead, the new government faces a "blank wall" and hidden obligations.

"In a normal transfer of power procedure, the prime minister shares important information with the successor. This is not the case here: there are secret contracts and international loans that we know nothing about," added the Tisza leader.

According to Péter Magyar, the scale of paper destruction may be significant, but he is determined to conduct a full audit of the Foreign Ministry. He noted that many of Hungary's international commitments remain a mystery to voters and the new political elite, so rescuing any copies or digital traces of these documents is the number one priority for his team in the near future.

Meanwhile, the kremlin has put Hungary on the list of unfriendly countries and will not congratulate Magyar on his victory.
