Macron convenes second meeting of French Security Council since start of war in Iran
French President Emmanuel Macron has convened a meeting of the Defense and National Security Council (CDSN). It will be devoted to the situation in Iran and the Middle East. It was announced by the Élysée Palace on Tuesday, April 7, as reported by the French radio station Europe 1.
The CDSN meeting, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, was attended by ministers and leaders responsible for French security issues.
Preliminarily, the CDSN meeting was devoted to the situation around Iran and the Middle East. No other details were provided.
This is the second meeting of the CDSN that Macron has convened since the start of the Israeli-US war against Iran. Last time it took place on March 10. After it, France sent its warships to the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, which are carrying out a "purely defensive" mission to open navigation in the Strait of Hormuz
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, yesterday, the aggressor country russia and China used their veto power in the UN Security Council. They blocked the resolution initiated by a number of Persian Gulf states to ensure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Yesterday, US President Donald Trump also published a post on Truth Social, in which he announced the "death of an entire civilization" if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz.
We also reported that in Iran, children and young people were called upon to form "human chains" around power plants and bridges to protect them from strikes, that Trump had announced the day before. Later, footage appeared online showing young Iranians actually coming to these facilities.
