Belgian delegation got into epicenter of russian attack on Lviv
A delegation from the Belgian city of Mechelen got into the epicenter of the strike on Lviv by the aggressor country of russia on March 24. The head of the delegation, the city's mayor Bart Somers, told Ukrinform on Wednesday, March 25.
At the time of the drone attack, the delegation was on the Ploshcha Rynok [Market Square - ed.] together with Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi. The residential building hit by the russian drone is located 150 meters from the hotel where the Belgian representatives were staying. At the time of the attack, Somers was meeting with international relations students, with whom he went down to the shelter.
"While the strikes were going on above us, we talked to the youth about their future. What struck me most was their determination. These students see themselves as part of Europe - not as a distant dream, but as a reality for which they fight every day. This realization is very impressive when you hear these words, knowing that missiles and drones are hitting above you. This is about people - about a generation that chooses freedom, democracy and the rule of law," Somers said.
After the air alert ended, the Belgian delegation, together with the mayor of Lviv, visited the site of the russian strikes.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 24, the building of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region was damaged in an attack by a russian drone in Lviv.
