Hungary calls The Washington Post article on staged assassination attempt on Orbán pro-Ukrainian propaganda
The Hungarian government denies the information of The Washington Post about the preparation of an assassination attempt on Prime Minister Viktor Orbán by the special services of the aggressor state of russia, calling it "pro-Ukrainian propaganda."
It was reported by the Hungarian edition of Telex.
"The information of The Washington Post is completely false, it is pro-Ukrainian propaganda. Instead, it is a fact that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly threatened the Prime Minister of Hungary with death during the election campaign," the Hungarian government information center, which operates within the Prime Minister's Office, responded to Telex's request.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that "the Ukrainian propaganda press and its Hungarian partners" are making a fuss about the attacks, and, in his opinion, the Tisza party has put forward conspiracy theories.
The head of the Hungarian opposition and the Tisza party, Péter Magyar, reacted to an article by The Washington Post, in which the American newspaper, citing an internal report that they had obtained and Western intelligence officers, wrote that Szijjártó regularly consulted with Sergei Lavrov during breaks in EU meetings, so that russian diplomacy actually knew immediately what was being discussed there.
Magyar also noted that all this means that putin was actually present at the EU talks as well.
"The fact that the Hungarian foreign minister, a good friend of Sergei Lavrov, informs the Russians almost every minute about every EU meeting is a clear betrayal. This man has betrayed not only his country, but also Europe," he said.
In addition, the article stated that that one of the divisions of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the aggressor state of russia (SVR) even considered the idea of staging an assassination attempt on Viktor Orbán. According to the newspaper's article, last month one of the units of the Foreign Intelligence Service "sounded the alarm" due to the fall in Viktor Orbán's popularity.
Russian officers have expressed the opinion that radical measures may be needed to keep Orbán in power. According to The Washington Post, one of the European intelligence services received and reviewed an internal report prepared for the Foreign Intelligence Service, which proposed a radical change in the paradigm of the election campaign, namely by organizing an assassination attempt on Viktor Orbán. Péter Magyar noted that this did not surprise him and that they had been counting on this even before the election.
Meanwhile, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stood up for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who is blocking a EUR 90 billion reparations loan to Ukraine approved by the European Union.
