The 112 Ukraine mobile application has added a video message to the operator and automatic transmission of geolocation to the 112 Service. The Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Now, users can make a video call to a 112 operator who speaks sign language, which is important for people with hearing and speech impairments - they can explain the situation and ask for help.

As for the automatic transmission of geolocation, Klymenko noted that in a critical situation, a person may not know the exact address or be able to provide it, while the exact coordinates allow to determine the location of the incident much faster.

The minister emphasized that user data is protected, the application complies with state cybersecurity standards and uses the information exclusively for processing emergency calls.

Klymenko said that since its launch, the app has received more than 9,200 thousand calls and over 326 thousand downloads, which he said confirms that the digital channel of communication with the 112 Service has already become an important tool for assistance.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January Klymenko said that the 112 line also operates in the mode of receiving messages about the absence of heat, water and electricity supply to promptly receive information about the critical situation in citizens' homes not only from emergency services.
