Ukraine returns 200 of its defenders from russian captivity

Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia exchanged prisoners through the mediation of the United States and the United Arab Emirates. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday, March 5.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is involving mediators to return all of its own citizens.

"Today, 200 Ukrainian families received the most anticipated message: their relatives are returning home. And this is always good news for all of us, for the entire country - the return of our people to their native land," Zelenskyy stressed.

Defenders of Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia - soldiers of the Armed Forces, the State Special Transport Service, border guards and National Guardsmen - managed to return home.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 5, russia announced a planned prisoner exchange with Ukraine of 500 for 500 on March 5-6.

On February 5, 157 Ukrainians - military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, and border guards - returned from russian captivity. Also among those who returned were civilians.
