Over the past day, false information has been actively spreading on the social network X (Twitter) about the alleged death of American director Quentin Tarantino as a result of an Iranian missile attack on Israel. According to sources close to the filmmaker, the director is alive and safe, Deadline writes.

Fake news about the death of Quentin Tarantino

The original source of the fake news was an account with over 150,000 subscribers, which stated that Tarantino was killed during the shelling, and baselessly referred to the publication Deadline. The post quickly gained popularity and was picked up by other users, as well as the media.

In a similar way, another false information was spread on the network - about the alleged death of American comedian Jerry Seinfeld. There is currently no confirmation of these statements.

Fake photos and the problem of disinformation

In addition to text messages, artificial intelligence-generated images appeared on X, which allegedly show the author of "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill" in a bomb shelter in Israel. These images also turned out to be fake. Some of these posts have already been marked as false by the Grok system (X's AI network) and display a separate warning when they are displayed on the social network.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the Middle East. As previously reported, on the morning of March 1, the Iranian army launched a new large-scale wave of strikes on a number of Middle Eastern countries, which led to numerous explosions and the activation of air raid warnings in Israel, Dubai (UAE), Doha (Qatar), Bahrain, Jordan and Iraq. Subsequently, the terrorist group Hezbollah also carried out a missile attack on several Israeli cities.
