Due to another russian strike on energy infrastructure, nuclear generation capacity had to be reduced - Shmyhal
On the night of February 26, russian troops struck another strike on energy infrastructure, which caused an emergency shutdown of several high-voltage lines.
This was announced by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal on the evening of February 26 following a meeting of the Energy Staff, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Unfortunately, as a result of the shelling today (February 26), we had an emergency shutdown of several high-voltage lines. To balance the system, we had to reduce the capacity of nuclear generation. In addition, Ukrenergo has introduced additional schedules of restrictions throughout the "deficient" part of the energy system," the head of the Ministry of Energy said.
Ukraine is currently looking for equipment for restoration: specialists are inspecting decommissioned CHPPs in Slovakia, Austria and Croatia.
Also, in the near future, the Energy Support Fund should be replenished with more than EUR 23 million from partners.
These agreements were the result of a recent ministerial meeting in Paris.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of February 26, russia struck gas infrastructure in the Poltava Region, electrical substations in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk Regions, there is destruction in eight regions.
Falling debris was recorded in three districts of Kyiv as a result of the russian attack on the night of February 26.
