Trump gives Iran ten days to conclude nuclear deal, otherwise "bad things will happen"
Iran is facing bad things if it refuses to conclude the so-called "nuclear deal", which provides for Tehran's abandonment of uranium enrichment. US President Donald Trump made the statement on Thursday, February 19.
Speaking at a meeting of the "Peace Council," Trump said he intends to decide what action to take against Iran over the next ten days.
"It's proven to be, over the years, not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran... Now we may have to take it a step further or we may not. Maybe we are going to make a deal [with Iran]. You are going to be finding out over the next probably 10 days," Trump said.
He added that the United States and Iran are having "good talks" but warned that Tehran is in for "bad things" if a nuclear deal is not reached.
In early February, the United States and Iran held indirect talks in Oman. Iranian officials said that Tehran is ready to enrich uranium only up to 60%, which is allegedly proof of readiness for a compromise. This level of enrichment is close to weapons-grade, which has only increased suspicions that Iran is seeking to develop its own nuclear weapons.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, while negotiations between the US and Iran continue, more and more US forces continue to arrive in the Middle East. The Wall Street Journal wrote that Washington is forming the largest air force in the region since the 2003 Iraq war.
Iran is not wasting time either. According to Reuters, Tehran is actively strengthening the facilities of its nuclear program to minimize the consequences of American strikes.
We also wrote that the United States has promised to support the Israeli army if it decides to strike Iran's missile production facilities.
