Electricity consumption down 6% due to power outages due to massive attack - Ukrenergo
Electricity consumption in Ukraine decreased by 5.9% as of the morning of February 17 due to power outages due to a massive attack by the aggressor country of russia.
This was announced by the Ukrenergo national energy company on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News reports.
"Electricity consumption decreased. Today, February 17, as of 9:30 am, its level was 5.9% lower than at this time the previous day - Monday. The reason for the changes is a larger number of consumers without power as a result of a massive missile and drone attack," the message says.
Ukrenergo reports that as a result of the attack this morning, there is a significant number of consumers without power in the Odesa Region (in particular, in the city of Odesa), in the Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv Regions.
As a result of previous massive russian attacks, power limitation schedules for industry are currently in effect in most regions of Ukraine, as well as hourly outage schedules for all categories of consumers.
In some regions, emergency outages have been forcedly applied, previously announced hourly outage schedules are not in effect there, a return to the predicted hourly schedules will occur immediately after the situation in the power system stabilizes.
Yesterday, February 16, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the morning, it was 7.1% higher than the maximum of the previous working day - on Friday, February 13, the reason is a significant cooling in most regions of Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the combined strike by the aggressor country of russia on the night of February 17 was specially calculated to damage Ukraine's energy sector as much as possible.
