Trump again calls on Ukraine to get to negotiating table quickly ahead of talks in Geneva
US President Donald Trump, on the eve of trilateral talks in Geneva (Switzerland) on the settlement of the russian-Ukrainian war, again called on Ukraine to get to the negotiating table quickly.
He told reporters on the presidential plane on February 16.
"Important negotiations. It will be very simple. Listen, for now, Ukraine better get to the negotiating table quickly. That's all I'm telling you," Trump replied briefly, quickly switching to another topic.
As a reminder, US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will hold two sets of diplomatic talks in one day in Geneva on Tuesday, February 17. In the morning, the American delegation will meet with the Iranian side. In the afternoon, Witkoff and Kushner will take part in trilateral talks with representatives of russia and Ukraine.
The Ukrainian delegation, headed by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, will include the Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov, the head of the Servant of the People faction Davyd Arakhamia, Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia, and the Deputy Head of the State Security Service Vadym Skibitskyi.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the russian dictator Dmitry Peskov said that the russian delegation will be headed by vladimir putin's aide, Vladimir Medinsky.
At the same time, during the Munich Security Conference, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that there is currently no confidence in russia's readiness to truly end the war. He also noted that it is still unclear whether it will be possible to find conditions that would be acceptable to Ukraine and at the same time satisfy Moscow.
At the same time, on February 13, US President Donald Trump also stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy now has a great opportunity to conclude an agreement, so he should hurry up and act.
