UNESCO is continuing to accept applications for the fourth edition of the Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences, established jointly with russia. As reported on the official website of the organization, the award ceremony will take place alternately at UNESCO headquarters and in the russian federation.

According to the organization's website, the UNESCO-russia Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences was established to develop the basic sciences, popularize science and international cooperation.

According to the published information, the award is given to candidates whose scientific achievements contribute to socio-economic transformation and have a regional or global impact. The criteria include excellence in basic science research, education and popularization of science, and international or regional cooperation.

There are no age restrictions for candidates. It is separately noted that "the candidacies of women scientists are encouraged."

The international jury is composed of seven scientists appointed by the Director-General of UNESCO for a two-year renewable term. Among the jury members are representatives of Spain, Germany, Mexico, India, Kenya, Morocco, and the aggressor country of russia.
