Zelenskyy and Rubio discuss upcoming talks in Geneva
On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This is announced in a statement from the Office of the President of Ukraine.
It is reported that Zelenskyy informed Rubio about the situation at the front, constant russian strikes and the consequences of attacks on the energy system. One of the topics of discussion during the meeting was how to help Ukraine with air defense missiles in cold weather.
Special and detailed attention was paid to the diplomatic process and negotiations in the trilateral format. The President thanked the United States of America for its constructive approach and emphasized: it is important that the meetings planned in Geneva be productive.
In addition, the sequence of next steps was discussed. Ukraine believes that a meeting at the leadership level should ultimately be held to resolve the most problematic issues.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, during the Munich Security Conference, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that there is currently no confidence in the readiness of the aggressor country of russia to truly end the war. He also noted that it is still unclear whether it will be possible to find conditions that would be acceptable to Ukraine and at the same time satisfy Moscow.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had accepted the US proposal to hold another round of talks next week, during which they will probably focus on the issue of territory.
