Britain to give Ukraine 1,000 missiles for air defense

The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with 1,000 missiles to protect its infrastructure from attacks by the aggressor country russia. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense on Thursday, February 12.

The British Defense Ministry announced the transfer of an additional batch of missiles for air defense to Ukraine.

"The UK is set to deliver an additional 1,000 Lightweight Multirole Missiles, manufactured in Belfast, that will be critical to defending Ukrainian infrastructure and cities from Russia’s escalating drone and missile attacks. The UK is ironclad in our commitment to Ukraine," the Ministry said in a statement.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 11, the United Kingdom joined the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program, under which Ukraine's partner countries purchase weapons from the United States for the needs of the Ukrainian army, and allocated USD 204 million.

On January 9, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that starting in February, Ukraine and the United Kingdom will start producing 1,000 Octopus interceptor drones per month.

The UK has also stepped up preparations for a potential deployment of military contingent to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission after the possible cessation of hostilities.
