Rada opens record 15th session
The Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation opened a record 15th session.
This was announced by Yaroslav Zhelezniak, MP from the Holos faction, on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Today the 15th session of the Verkhovna Rada opens. 6 years, 5 months and 5 days have passed since the beginning of this convocation... Never in history has the parliament even reached the 13th session, but because of the war it set a record here too... P.S. My colleagues, whose children were born at the beginning of the convocation, have already started school," he said.
Zhelezniak also reported that after the opening of the session, the new MP from the Servant of the People party, businessman Serhii Karabuta, took the oath of MP.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who is currently visiting Ukraine, is speaking in the Verkhovna Rada.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to the Constitution, the opening of the Verkhovna Rada session takes place on the first Tuesday of each February and September.
The last elections to the Verkhovna Rada were held on July 21, 2019, they were extraordinary elections, according to the results of which the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation was formed.
According to the Constitution, the composition of the Verkhovna Rada is elected for a term of 5 years.
However, the Constitution prohibits holding elections during war.
