Four civilians, including two children, were injured in Kherson as a result of a car explosion caused by an explosive device, a preliminary "petal" type mine

It was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

"According to the investigation, on January 31, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m., a car exploded on an explosive device, previously a petal-type mine. Four civilians were injured as a result of the detonation: a man, a woman and two girls," the statement posted on the Telegram channel reads.

A pre-trial investigation into the commission of a war crime under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been initiated under the procedural control of the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office.

In his turn, the head of the city military administration Yaroslav Shanko stated that all the victims suffered contusions, explosive and closed head injuries. The medics provided them with assistance on the spot, the statement said.

"A 47-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman and two children - girls aged two and five - were in the car," Shanko said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 30, russian terrorist forces struck a minibus in Kherson, killing the driver of the vehicle and injuring five more people.
