Europe ready to quickly replace US: Ukraine may lose critical dependence on US intelligence
Ukraine is able to significantly reduce its dependence on US intelligence information within the next few months thanks to the support of European partners.
It was reported by the Financial Times.
According to the newspaper, after Donald Trump returned to the White House, the issue of the US role in supporting Ukraine became one of the key issues for European leaders. In order to maintain cooperation, they were ready to make concessions, in particular, not to respond with mirror measures to American duties on EU goods in the summer of 2025.
Earlier, Western sources warned that the possible withdrawal of the US from active support for Kyiv would be a serious blow to the exhausted Ukrainian army and could push kremlin leader vladimir putin to realize his maximalist goal of subjugating Ukraine.
However, according to current Ukrainian and European officials, the situation is no longer as critical as it was a year ago. Back then, the Trump administration briefly suspended intelligence sharing and arms deliveries, but allies quickly compensated for this pause by using their own capabilities.
In particular, in January 2026, French President Emmanuel Macron said that his country currently provides Ukraine with two-thirds of the necessary intelligence information.
"Ukraine's dependence on American intelligence can be significantly reduced within a few months," one Western official said.
As a reminder, the aggressor country russia is preparing to launch new strikes against Ukraine, as evidenced by intelligence data.
