Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Kyiv has been tasked with urgently determining the required number of cogeneration units to compensate for the loss of generation after the damage to combined heat and power plants. He stated this following a meeting of the Emergency Response Headquarters in Kyiv and the region.

According to the Energy Minister, an action plan was developed during the meeting to replace the capacities of damaged thermal power plants with distributed generation sources.

"We have developed specific steps to replace the generation of damaged CHPPs with distributed sources. This includes the installation of cogeneration units and modular boiler houses. I have set a task for Kyiv to urgently calculate the required number of units to compensate for the losses," said Denys Shmyhal.

He also added that in the near future, the capital's power system may receive additional megawatts due to generation from business.

Special attention was paid to the issues of communication and digital coordination during the meeting.

"Communication and digital coordination is another priority. We handed over generators to utilities and providers," Shmyhal emphasized.

In addition, the government has agreed with the city authorities to support Internet providers that are able to connect homes using xPON technology.

"We also agreed with the city to support those providers that can provide xPON fiber optic Internet technology to homes. There should be no monopoly here, and people should receive high-quality communication services under any conditions," Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

We would like to remind you that more than 800,000 consumers in Kyiv are still without electricity.

Meanwhile, the return of heat supply to the homes of residents of Kyiv's Troieshchyna may take another four to five days.
