Almost 60% of capital remains without electricity - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that as of the morning of January 21, about 4,000 houses in Kyiv are still without heat, and almost 60% of the capital is without electricity. Zelenskyy said this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
He said that he had held a special energy conference call. According to him, the most difficult situation is now in Kyiv and the region, the Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk Regions.
"As of this morning, about 4,000 houses in Kyiv are still without heat, and almost 60% of the capital is without electricity. According to the city authorities, the forces involved are sufficient, but it will take time. I disagree with this assessment - additional measures are needed, additional resources are needed," he said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that due to russia's constant attacks on energy infrastructure, the capital of Ukraine was on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe.
The Energy Ministry reported that Kyiv has received 55 additional generators from the reserve of the Ministry of Energy, and review of critical infrastructure facilities is underway to release additional electricity for household consumers.
