Curfew is being eased: what will Ukrainians be allowed to do
Ukraine is changing the rules of the curfew amid massive russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Citizens will be allowed to move around the streets at night, but only to get to the Invincibility Points.
This was announced by First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel.
According to him, due to the attacks on the energy sector, a state of emergency has been introduced in the country, which should ensure clear coordination of the work of all services at the level of the capital, regions and communities.
"As the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, I have been entrusted with the powers of the head of the work to eliminate its consequences," Shmyhal noted.
He also outlined a list of decisions adopted jointly with the government. In particular, the work of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of an Emergency in the Energy Sector and a separate headquarters for the power systems of Kyiv and the Kyiv Region is being strengthened. The first meetings of both structures have already taken place.
In addition, the rules of movement during the curfew are changing: people will be able to freely go outside, including at night to get to the Invincibility Points.
The government also recommends that the National Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Utilities of Ukraine revise and simplify the procedures for connecting backup energy equipment to the networks as soon as possible. It is assumed that the consideration and approval of projects will last up to two days, the same amount of time is allocated for obtaining technical conditions, inspection and sealing of metering units.
A separate decision was made to redistribute backup equipment between regions, taking into account the needs of life support facilities. Also, state-owned companies, in particular Ukrzaliznytsia and Naftogaz, were instructed to urgently ensure the purchase of imported electricity during the 2025/26 heating season in the amount of at least 50% of total consumption.
We will remind you that the day before, the director general of the energy company Yasno, Serhii Kovalenko, urged Kyiv residents not to wait for an improvement in the electricity situation and to hope only for the establishment of warm weather.
