In Minneapolis, several thousand people gathered in a park in the south of the city, not far from where Renee Hood lived and was fatally shot. The crowd shouted "Say her name: Renée Goode!" and "We will not put up with ICE."

The Washington Post reports this.

Protesters held homemade signs that read "ICE murdered Renée Good" and "Indict agent Jonathan Ross" - he is identified in court documents as the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer who shot and killed the woman.

Similar demonstrations took place in other US cities, including Boston, New York, Austin, and Philadelphia. Many of them were organized by the progressive group Indivisible under the slogan "ICE Out For Good."

How city authorities and police are responding to the escalation of protests?

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said that most of the protests in the city remained peaceful, but on Friday night the situation escalated near a hotel where ICE agents were allegedly staying. According to him, some of the participants damaged property and threw ice, snow and stones at the police. As a result, 29 people were detained and one police officer was injured

What the published videos from the place of Renée Hood's death show?

Videos of the shooting are gradually appearing online, including one shot on the phone by the ICE agent himself. The 47-second video shows Renée Goode talking to Ross before the shooting, and a moment before the shooting, her wife urged her to leave the scene. The video does not confirm whether Goode's car hit the agent, as the administration claims. Vice President J.D. Vance said the recording exonerated Ross and called the shooting self-defense.

What happened in the US in Minnesota?

A 37-year-old woman was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 7 during an operation by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She was fatally wounded by a shot from a federal service officer.

According to the US Department of Homeland Security, ICE agents were conducting official business when a group of people began to interfere with them. The department claims that a woman in a car allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers. One of the agents, fearing for his life and the safety of his colleagues, opened fire and fired so-called "defensive shots."

US President Donald Trump supported the actions of the ICE agent. In a post on Truth Social, he accused the "radical left" of systemic pressure on law enforcement and said that after watching the video of the shooting, he considered the woman's actions aggressive. According to him, she resisted and deliberately ran over the officer.

After the shooting, residents of the area where the woman was killed went on a spontaneous protest. There were clashes with police, and law enforcement officers used tear gas.
