Naftogaz closes its branch in Turkmenistan
The Naftogaz of Ukraine National Joint Stock Company officially closed its branch in Turkmenistan on December 31, 2025.
ExPro publication writes about this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The report says that the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz decided to liquidate the branch in Turkmenistan back in March 2023.
But only at the end of 2025, the company received a copy of the certificate of exclusion of the branch from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities of Turkmenistan.
Naftogaz closed its branch in Turkmenistan to optimize its corporate structure.
Turkmenistan has been the main supplier of natural gas to Ukraine since the late 90s.
The supplies were carried out by Naftogaz of Ukraine.
However, after 2005, due to the deterioration of relations with russia, which controlled the transit of Turkmen gas, direct deliveries began to be blocked.
Ukraine finally lost the ability to buy Turkmen gas as a state in 2009, when russia bought almost all of Turkmenistan's export resources and direct contracts disappeared even formally.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2025, gas imports to Ukraine increased 9 times compared to 2024 to 6.5 billion cubic meters (2024: 724 million cubic meters).
