Italian government approves extension of military aid to Ukraine - ANSA
The Italian government has approved a resolution to continue military aid to Ukraine, despite the opposition of the League party, which is against it.
Italian news agency ANSA reported on Monday, December 29.
The Council of Ministers held a meeting, which resulted in a decision to extend Italian aid. The decree approved today is the 11th extension of assistance to Ukraine.
The agency writes that the League party opposed the decision, but Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's cabinet managed to approve the decree.
Meloni said that Italy will support Ukraine as long as it is needed.
Earlier, Bloomberg wrote that the issue of continuing assistance to Ukraine has provoked an escalation of the conflict in the Italian government. Thus, the League party openly called for the return of the frozen assets of the aggressor country russia.
We also wrote that in early December, the Italian government published a decree on providing a new military assistance package to Ukraine, which was prepared in mid-November.
