Out of 6.5 million Ukrainians abroad, 350,000 voters are registered with the consulate. This is stated in the report of the Central Election Commission, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Among the key challenges of post-war or martial law elections, the CEC names millions of Ukrainian voters abroad who need to be provided with the opportunity to vote.

For this purpose, the CEC considered such models as postal and electronic voting, as well as additional polling stations outside diplomatic missions. According to the CEC, the latter seems to be the most realistic option.

"In addition, it is proposed to introduce active registration of voters who are abroad, because officially there are only 350,000 of them on the consular register," the statement said.

At the same time, according to the latest data of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), about 6.5 million Ukrainians are abroad because of the war.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, that he had discussed with parliamentarians the possibility of holding elections during martial law and expects that the Verkhovna Rada will present its own vision of this issue.
