French cinema legend Brigitte Bardot died

The famous French actress Brigitte Bardot, one of the brightest stars of European cinema of the 20th century, has died at the age of 91.

Bardot was an icon of her time and the personification of female emancipation and sexual freedom. Over more than two decades of her acting career, she starred in 48 films. Among her most famous works are the films "And God Created Woman", "The Truth" and "Contempt".

After completing her film career, Brigitte Bardot devoted herself entirely to public activities. She became one of the most influential animal rights activists in Europe and achieved a ban on the trade in fur of seals in a number of countries.
