Metinvest acquires Romanian pipe plant

On December 16, Metinvest Group closed a deal to acquire ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iași, located in the Romanian city of Iași.

This was announced in a company statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that the plant produces welded structural pipes for construction, mechanical engineering, infrastructure and the agricultural sector.

Its maximum capacity is 240,000 tons of products per year.

"Even before the Great War, Metinvest began building a bridge between the metallurgy of Ukraine and the EU. Therefore, the new plant for us is a unique opportunity to load two enterprises with work at once - in Iași and Zaporizhzhia. This is part of our contribution to post-war reconstruction. I am sure that the plant's products will be in demand not only in the EU, but will also be in demand during the restoration of Ukraine's infrastructure and industry damaged by hostilities," said Yurii Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest, commenting on the completion of the deal.

The report states that the enterprise has become Metinvest's first production site in Romania.

Negotiations on the acquisition of the plant lasted several months.

So, on November 24, 2025, the group received approval from the European Commission to acquire the asset on the basis of the European Union Merger Regulation, and a day later - from the Romanian national competition authority based on the results of the foreign investment screening procedure.

In addition to Ukraine and Romania, Metinvest Group has assets in Italy, Bulgaria, the UK and the USA. The group's shareholder is Rinat Akhmetov.
